Chris Janson Dazzles at Inaugural Boots in the Park in Long Beach

Published March 24, 2024

The first ever Boots in the Park festival in Long Beach brought country flair to the Queen Mary Festival Grounds on a breezy Saturday, March 23. Despite challenging winds that earlier threatened panel and food stands, and a fallen gate complicating entry lines, fans were treated to a refreshing seaside atmosphere, perfect for the festival's laid-back vibe. With smaller grounds compared to previous locations, it offered a cozy setting inviting attendees to lounge, relax and enjoy the country tunes amidst grassy spots and bleacher seating.

Chris Janson: The Highlight of the Festival

While Lee Brice headlined the event, Chris Janson was the undeniable star of the show. Janson, with his son Jesse Bo Janson, gave an electrifying performance that resonated well with the audience. His setlist included chart-topping hits and engaging personal anecdotes that fostered a deep connection with fans, especially as he shared his career origins tied to Southern California. His rendition of 'Killing in the Name' captivated fans, who rocked alongside the music. Adding to Janson's memorable set, a surprise appearance by his wife Kelly Lynn and a duet with his son amplified the personal, heartfelt experience his performance delivered.

Lee Brice and Other Acts Shine

Lee Brice, although not as talkative as Janson, pleased the crowd with fan-favorite hits like 'One Of Them Girls' and 'Rumor.' Engaging with the festival-goers, Brice's set was a hit with those ready to party and sing along. Country duo LoCash also contributed to the festivities with their own hits and cover songs that got attendees dancing and having a great time.

Line Dancing and Fun Activities

The festival wasn't just about the music; the Country Club stage hosted line dancing sessions and provided engaging activities for all skill levels, from beginners to experienced dancers. The dance floor became a spot for entertainment and interaction, creating a community feeling as each instructor led the crowd through different routines. With mouthwatering options from nearby food trucks, festival-goers were able to grab a snack and jump right back into the line dancing fun.

Attendee Reactions

Long Beach residents and visitors alike expressed their approval of Boots in the Park, praising its waterfront location and welcoming atmosphere. For many, the hope remains that this event will become a regular feature in Long Beach and continue to offer such a delightful experience for country music fans.
