Chicago Cubs' Beloved Anthem Singer John Vincent Returns to Blue Island for a Special Performance

Published January 7, 2024

John Vincent, celebrated for his renditions of the national anthem at Chicago Cubs games, is returning to perform at The Lyric Theater in Blue Island. Just half a year since his debut at the venue, Vincent will be back on stage to delight the audience with his powerful voice on January 5, 2024. The show, titled 'An Evening with John Vincent,' is not only a musical journey but also a personal narrative of the singer's roots in Chicago’s South Side, featuring covers of iconic tunes by Louis Armstrong, Johnny Cash, and Frank Sinatra.

A Night of Music and Stories

During the performance, Vincent will share personal stories, encompassing both the highs and lows of his life. With a message of kindness at its heart, he hopes to inspire and uplift people during these unsettled times. From battling personal challenges, such as bullying and mental illness, to dealing with his father's illness, Vincent's tales promise an emotional rollercoaster interspersed with moments of laughter and tears.

From Finance to Center Stage

Vincent's journey to becoming a prominent singer started at the age of 29 while working in finance. A stroke of fate at the original Ditka’s steakhouse, owned by the famous Chicago Bears coach Mike Ditka, led to his singing career when Diane Ditka hired him on the spot after hearing him sing 'New York, New York.' His performances at Ditka's eventually caught the attention of the Chicago Cubs, leading to his longstanding role as the team's anthem singer from 2003, which included the memorable 2016 World Series performance.

Vincent's National Anthem Acclaim

Vincent’s time singing for the Chicago Cubs brought him nationwide recognition, including praise from superstars like Lady Gaga for his World Series performance. Besides Wrigley Field, Vincent's career has seen him partnering with various organizations, performing across the globe, and engaging in community service, such as singing for nursing home residents with the Chicago Police Department.
