Lady Gaga Names John Lennon as Her Dream Collaborator

Published March 8, 2025

Lady Gaga has shared that her dream collaborator would be the iconic John Lennon, who is no longer with us. In a recent fan-led press conference to mark the release of her new album, ‘Mayhem’, Gaga was asked about her ideal musical partner, living or deceased.

"I think it would have been John Lennon. I believe he had such a beautiful heart. One of my favorite aspects of music history is when an artist is remembered not just for their songs, but for their compassion and character,” she noted.

Gaga also revealed her peace sign tattoo on her wrist, which holds special significance. She explained, "This peace sign was near 72nd Street by the Dakota, where he was tragically taken from us. Yoko used to place flowers there, and I got this tattoo to honor his memory. I never forgot what he stood for, and it aligns with what I believe in too."

In a past interview with NME, Gaga compared herself to Lennon, expressing her ongoing struggle to be fully satisfied with her music. "I am often dissatisfied with what I create," she admitted. "Even when I proclaim a song like ‘Edge Of Glory’ is a pop masterpiece, I still catch myself thinking of the things I wish I could have changed." She recounted how, in Lennon’s infamous 1980 Playboy interview, he mentioned his discontent with some of his own songs—songs that might be beloved by fans.

Additionally, in 2012, Gaga received the Lennonono Grant For Peace from Yoko Ono, recognizing her contributions to peace and music. She also performed a heartfelt rendition of Lennon’s ‘Imagine’ at the opening of the European Games in Baku, Azerbaijan, in 2015.

In the same year, she was linked to another Beatle, Sir Paul McCartney, when they collaborated on a song for the animated film High in the Clouds, based on McCartney's children's book. Gaga had shared an Instagram post featuring the two of them along with Pearl Jam guitarist Mike McCready in the studio, highlighting their creative partnership.

Reflecting on the process, she shared, “It's always a pleasure working with Paul. I remember the day he called me to collaborate, and I thought it was a prank!”

On March 7, Gaga's much-anticipated seventh album, ‘Mayhem’, became available. This album follows her 2020 release, ‘Chromatica’, as well as the companion record ‘Harlequin’ from the 'Joker: Folie a Deux' film. Reviews have praised ‘Mayhem’, giving it four stars and describing it as a captivating collection where Gaga amplifies her artistry.

One review noted, "Gaga sticks confidently to her bold vision without conforming to modern pop trends. Most tracks on ‘Mayhem’ stretch close to or over four minutes, turning them into mini-epics in the TikTok age." Ultimately, the review concluded that the album feels like a joyful reunion with Gaga, who remains a leading figure in the world of pop music.

In other exciting news, fans speculate that Gaga's track ‘How Bad Do U Want Me?’ from her new album might feature a surprise appearance from Taylor Swift. Furthermore, Gaga recently announced a performance in Mexico that will mark her return to the country after 13 years on April 26, where she is expected to perform numerous songs from ‘Mayhem’. This news came shortly after she revealed plans for a large free concert for over a million fans at Copacabana Beach in Rio.
