North Mississippi Allstars Bring the Sound of the Magnolia State
Mississippi boasts a deep musical history. Even the name itself has a rhythm that resonates. It is known as the birthplace of legendary musicians like Elvis Presley, Robert Johnson, and Jimmie Rodgers. The state continues to contribute significantly to the blues and country music scenes.
One band that emphasizes its Mississippi roots is the North Mississippi Allstars. This blues and Southern rock group is set to perform at Moe’s Alley this Friday.
The North Mississippi Allstars were established in 1996 by brothers Luther and Cody Dickinson. Their debut album, “Shake Hands with Shorty,” quickly earned them a Grammy nomination, marking a strong start to their career. Staying true to their name, the band often collaborates with various artists for their albums. Notable contributors include Lucinda Williams, Mavis Staples, Jason Isbell, and William Bell, among others. Their most recent album, “Set Sail,” released in 2022, showcases a collaboration with Lamar Williams, Jr., the son of the Allman Brothers bassist of the same name.
The highly anticipated concert is scheduled for 9 p.m. on Friday at Moe’s Alley, located at 1535 Commercial Way. The doors will open at 8 p.m. Tickets are priced at $30 in advance and $35 on the day of the event. Please note that this concert is for patrons aged 21 and over.
