George Clinton, Doobie Brothers to Join Songwriters Hall of Fame
The Songwriters Hall of Fame has announced its Class of 2025 inductees, and among those being honored are George Clinton and The Doobie Brothers.
According to the Hall of Fame Chairman, Nile Rodgers, "The foundation of the music industry exists because songwriters compose great songs. Without them, there is no recorded music, no concert business, no fans, or merchandising; it all starts with the song and the songwriter."
George Clinton is known for writing influential tracks like "Atomic Dog" and "I'd Rather Be With You". Meanwhile, The Doobie Brothers are celebrated for classics such as "Takin' It to the Streets" and "Long Train Runnin'".
Other notable inductees this year include Ashley Gorley, recognized for writing hit songs for Post Malone and Morgan Wallen, Rodney "Darkchild" Jerkins, who wrote "Say My Name" for Destiny's Child, Mike Love of the Beach Boys, known for tunes like "California Girls", and Tony Macaulay, writer of "Build Me Up Buttercup".
This year's inductee class comprises all male songwriters.
The selected inductees were chosen from a larger pool of nominees that included well-known artists such as Bryan Adams, Sheryl Crow, Eminem, Janet Jackson, and Alanis Morissette.
The induction ceremony will take place on June 12 in New York City.
