Bruno Mars Jokes About Gambling Debt While Celebrating Streaming Success
Bruno Mars, known for being part of the successful songwriting group the Smeezingtons, has had a remarkable career in music. He gained fame with major hits such as B.O.B’s “Nothin’ On You” and Travie McCoy’s “Billionaire.” In 2010, he launched his solo career with the debut album Doo Wops & Hooligans. Throughout his career, he has earned 15 Grammy Awards and sold over 130 million records worldwide. Recently, rumors circulated about the “Uptown Funk” singer allegedly incurring an enormous gambling debt with MGM Resorts. Although MGM has denied these allegations, Mars playfully addressed the situation while celebrating a significant milestone.
I’ll Be Out of Debt In No Time
On January 27, Bruno Mars made Spotify history by becoming the first artist to achieve 150 million monthly listeners on the streaming platform. His collaborations, including the hit “Die With a Smile” with Lady Gaga and a duet called “APT” with Blackpink’s Rosé, have contributed to his popularity, making him the top-streaming artist at the moment.
To celebrate his achievement, Mars took to Instagram on January 28 to share a humorous message, urging fans to “KEEP STREAMING! I’ll be out of debt in no time,” referencing the gambling rumors. This wasn’t the first time Mars made a lighthearted comment about the speculation surrounding his finances. During a performance last year, he quipped, “Ever since those articles came out about me owing the casino money you stopped picking up my calls. It’s me, baby — I got money.”

Continuing His Residency
According to news reports from March 2024, some claim that the singer owes MGM up to $50 million due to gambling losses. However, this speculation was met with a denial from the casino. A spokesperson for MGM stated that their partnership with Mars has always been based on mutual respect, asserting that these claims of debt are untrue.
Despite the rumors, Mars is not slowing down. He has announced an extension of his residency with MGM Resorts, with a series of shows planned from May 21 to June 2, 2025, at the Dolby Live at Park MGM in Las Vegas.
