Aerosmith Announces Reunion Show After Touring Retirement

Published January 24, 2025

Aerosmith has confirmed plans for a special performance next month, following their recent decision to stop touring.

The legendary band, known for hits like "I Don’t Want to Miss a Thing," left fans heartbroken last year when they announced their retirement from concerts. This came after lead singer Steven Tyler suffered vocal cord damage during the band's Peace Out tour in 2023.

Recently, bassist Tom Hamilton hinted at a potential reunion while providing updates on Tyler's health. According to sources, the band will perform at Tyler's sixth annual Jam for Janie Grammy Awards Viewing Party on February 2 at the Hollywood Palladium.

Reports suggest that Steven Tyler, Tom Hamilton, and guitarist Joe Perry are set to take the stage. However, it remains uncertain if drummer Joey Kramer and guitarist Brad Whitford will join them for this event.

The Jam for Janie event is a charity fundraiser that benefits Janie’s Fund, a non-profit organization dedicated to helping young women and girls who have experienced abuse. The event will also support the Los Angeles Fire Department Foundation and the Widows, Orphans, and Disabled Firefighter’s Fund, particularly in light of ongoing wildfires in the area.

In a statement, Tyler emphasized the importance of music in healing, especially for those affected by the wildfires and the trauma experienced by the girls supported by Janie’s Fund. He expressed hope that this performance would bring joy and relief to firefighters and other victims of the destruction.

Other performers at the fundraiser will include well-known artists like Billy Idol, Joan Jett, and Linda Perry, among others. Several celebrity co-chairs will also participate, including Miley Cyrus, Dolly Parton, and Lionel Richie.

Aerosmith, which has been a prominent force in rock music since the 1970s, showcases a powerful legacy with classic tracks like "Hole In My Soul," "Amazing," "Crazy," and "Sweet Emotion." Tyler returns to the public eye after a period of low visibility due to his health problems.

Tyler's vocal issues surfaced during the 2023 Peace Out tour, leading to significant complications. He faced strict medical advice to refrain from singing for an extended period. Eventually, the band announced that Tyler's recovery was not feasible, prompting their decision to retire from touring altogether.

In a recent interview, Tom Hamilton spoke positively about Tyler's health journey, indicating that Tyler's recovery is progressing well, albeit at a slower pace. Hamilton noted the unpredictability of future projects for the band, saying, ‘If we do anything in the future, it would come from him.’

While Hamilton remains hopeful about a reunion performance, he previously indicated that full tours are not in the cards for the time being. In August, he expressed cautious optimism about future opportunities.

Despite the challenges, Hamilton shared an upbeat message, referencing past difficulties that the band has overcome, saying, ‘Time and hope are all we have at the moment.’
