Rick Springfield Discovers Brain Damage from 25-Year-Old Fall
Rick Springfield has recently revealed that he discovered he has brain damage due to a fall he suffered 25 years ago.
In an interview with PEOPLE Magazine, the iconic Australian-American musician shared the unexpected findings from a full-body MRI scan. This scan indicated that the damage was a result of an accident during a concert in Las Vegas back in 2000.
While performing, the ‘Jessie’s Girl’ singer fell 25 feet. He explained that he hit his head, then wood struck him, and his head hit the stage again. At that moment, Springfield thought he had only injured his wrist. However, the MRI uncovered more troubling issues.
He stated, "On the scan I found out I have some brain damage from the fall, so I’m working on trying to repair that." This revelation has pushed him to explore unconventional treatments.
Springfield recently experimented with ketamine and LSD, hoping they might help him heal his brain. He was inspired to take this route following the death of his father, who passed away after avoiding medical examinations. His father had suspected he had stomach cancer but chose not to seek help, only to discover too late that he had a burst ulcer instead.
Springfield recalled, "That was a giant message to me: If you want to live long, you have to be prepared for some bad news now and then. I could find out I have terminal cancer tomorrow and be dead in a year, but I can only do all I can do."
Looking ahead, Springfield is set to start the ‘I Want My ’80s’ tour soon, performing alongside artists like John Waite, Wang Chung, Paul Young, and John Cafferty. This extensive tour will cover over 30 dates from March to August 2023.
