Brisbane's Musical Landscape Welcomes a New Sensation

As the festive cheer of the new year lingers, a two-day musical event is poised to energize Brisbane's renowned live music scene. Enthusiasts of indie rock and electronic beats are in for a treat, with an array of international talent landing at the Fortitude Music Hall.

Fortitude Music Hall Hosts Dynamic Mini-Festival

The upcoming mini-festival is scheduled for January 2 and 3, featuring a lineup that will excite fans across genres. British band Foals will headline with their indie-rock flair, joined by Australia's electronic pioneers The Avalanches and the diverse sounds of Sbtrkt, as well as England's own singer-songwriter talent, Declan McKenna.

FELONY: A Homegrown Talent on the Rise

Joining these big names is Brisbane's very own Layla Borhani, better known by her stage name FELONY. At 18 years old, she will perform in what stands to be her largest gig yet. It's a dream come true for the young star who only a short while ago played McKenna's songs with her school band.

Now she's on the bill with him, ready to deliver her original material to an audience she's dreamt of captivating. "It's going to be crazy to be able to watch them, let alone play with them," FELONY enthused. "It's definitely going to be the biggest show we've played."

From Covers to Original Hits

FELONY's journey has been marked by growth and community support, having toured with Brisbane band Selfish Sons and created music with producer Cody McWaters. Her experiences have not only sharpened her band's performance but also bolstered her confidence to take on larger stages and crowds.

She stands as a proud product of Brisbane's vibrant music scene, which helped amplify her latest single Everyone I Like Wants To Kill Themselves—a track that effortlessly blends pop sensitivity with rebellious rock energy.

Brisbane's Scene Rat and Her Vision

FELONY's music carries the spirit of influential pop and rock icons, but it serves a deeper purpose. She aims to be the voice for her generation, tackling the complex feelings faced by young people in a digital age. Through catchy pop rhythms, she delves into topics like identity and the search for belonging.

With the stage set at Fortitude Music Hall on January 2, FELONY is ready to capture hearts and ears, potentially marking her transition from a local act to a name known beyond her city's borders.
