Taylor Swift Shares a Seat with Cynthia Erivo at the 2025 Grammys
At the 2025 Grammy Awards held on February 2 at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, a lovely moment unfolded when Taylor Swift and Cynthia Erivo were seen sharing a seat. This heartwarming scene was noticed by fans when Trevor Noah, the ceremony’s host, announced Swift's presence.
As Erivo, who is 38 years old, made her way through the venue searching for her designated seat, she caught the attention of Swift, who is 35. Swift waved her over and invited Erivo to join her at the table by patting the empty space beside her, encouraging Erivo to sit down.
A Kind Gesture
This act of kindness led to Erivo joining Swift at her table, which also included Jack Antonoff and his wife, Margaret Qualley. The moment was marked by a warm embrace and shared laughter between the two stars, revealing their supportive friendship.
Later in the evening, videos posted on social media captured another delightful moment between them. Swift playfully mimicked a viral gesture from Erivo's press tour for Wicked, where Erivo had a memorable “holding space” moment with her co-star Ariana Grande.
Musical Highlights
Fans reacted enthusiastically to the sight of the two performers together, with many expressing their joy online. Comments such as, “THE DUO WE NEVER KNEW WE NEEDED,” echoed the sentiment of admiration from the audience.
Erivo, who won a Grammy in 2017 for her work in The Color Purple, was scheduled to perform during this year's awards. Simultaneously, she received an Oscar nomination for her portrayal of Elphaba in Wicked, enhancing her already impressive repertoire.
Although Swift was not performing at the Grammy Awards this year, she was set to present the Best Country Album award. Nominees for this category included Beyoncé, Post Malone, Kacey Musgraves, Chris Stapleton, and Lainey Wilson.
Swift herself had several nominations, including Best Pop Duo/Group Performance for her collaboration with Gracie Abrams, as well as nominations for Best Pop Vocal Performance, Album of the Year for The Tortured Poets Department, and Song of the Year, Best Music Video, and Record of the Year for her hit “Fortnight” featuring Post Malone.
Despite competing in various categories, Swift expressed her admiration for her peers, including widely acclaimed artists such as Kendrick Lamar and Sabrina Carpenter, who took home some of the awards in the categories Swift was nominated for.
