King Charles Curates Playlist for Apple Music

Published March 7, 2025

In a unique celebration of Commonwealth Day, King Charles has launched a special playlist titled The King’s Music Room on Apple Music. This playlist features a diverse range of musicians from all 56 countries of the Commonwealth.

The King recorded an introduction for the playlist from his office at Buckingham Palace, expressing his deep appreciation for music. In the recording, he shares, "Throughout my life, music has meant a great deal to me. I know that is also the case for so many others. It has that remarkable ability to bring happy memories flooding back from the deepest recesses of our memory, to comfort us in times of sadness, and to take us to distant places."

He continues, emphasizing the power of music to elevate spirits: "But perhaps, above all, it can lift our spirits to such a degree, and all the more so when it brings us together in celebration. In other words, it brings us joy." You can view the introduction by clicking here.

The playlist itself is a mix of classic and contemporary artists, including notable names like Kylie Minogue from Australia and Bob Marley and Grace Jones from Jamaica, showcasing a rich musical heritage.

Apple Music’s global head of Content and Editorial, Rachel Newman, highlighted the significance of the playlist, stating, "Human curation has always been a key pillar of our unique editorial approach. Apple Music Radio is where culture is happening worldwide, and we are honored that King Charles III chose to share his personal playlist with us, and with music fans around the world."

The King’s Music Room will be accessible starting March 10 at 1 a.m. EST on Apple Music 1, available for free and also on demand for subscribers of Apple Music.
