Chicago Cubs' Anthem Singer John Vincent Enchants Blue Island With His Return

Published January 4, 2024

John Vincent, known for his stirring renditions of the national anthem at Chicago Cubs games, recently made a much-welcomed return to Blue Island's Lyric Theater. Within half a year of his debut there, Vincent came back to what he declares as one of his preferred stages, for a special evening filled with music and storytelling.

An Evening with John Vincent

Vincent's showcase, slated for January 5, 2024, promises an intimate night where the Chicago-born artist will not only perform hits by Louis Armstrong, Johnny Cash, and Frank Sinatra but also share personal anecdotes from his life. Topics will range from his South Side upbringing to the importance of spreading kindness in turbulent times.

From Tough Times to Triumphs

Vincent, who weaves humor and sincerity into his narrative, intends to recount both the challenges he's faced, including bullying and dealing with mental illness, as well as the joys of his career. His act will also touch on his deep connection with Diane Ditka, his experiences as the regular singer at Ditka's restaurant, and the relationships he has nurtured over the years.

These relationships and his acclaimed performances led to Vincent becoming the resident anthem singer for the Chicago Cubs in 2003, a role that grew more prominent over the years and included memorable moments such as singing at the 2016 World Series—a performance that earned him high praise from Lady Gaga.

A Lifestyle of Song

Vincent's full-time singing career is dotted with notable appearances, from performances at the Pentagon to international trips, such as representing Chicago during its Olympic bid. He remains committed to community service, performing for nursing homes in collaboration with the Chicago Police Department.
