Meet Remember Monday: The UK's First Girl Band in 25 Years at Eurovision

Published March 7, 2025

Remember Monday is preparing to represent the UK at the upcoming 69th Eurovision Song Contest, which will take place in Basel, Switzerland, in May.

This country music group, consisting of members Charlotte, Holly, and Lauren, marks the first girl band to take the stage for the UK since 1999. They have recently shared an interesting connection with singer Sabrina Carpenter.

The last girl group to represent the UK were Precious in 1999, who finished in 12th place with their song "Say It Again." Now, with their entry song "What The Hell Just Happened?", Remember Monday aims to secure Eurovision glory.

Who Are Remember Monday?

Remember Monday is a trio of best friends known for their strong vocals and harmonious blend. The members met during their time in sixth form at Farnborough Sixth Form College in Hampshire.

Their band name comes from the day they would regularly practice when they first started making music together. The group gained significant attention in 2019, reaching the Quarter-Finals on The Voice UK.

Along with their unique style of empowering pop music, Remember Monday is popular on social media, notably TikTok, where they have over half a million followers and 11.3 million likes.

They also enjoy creating playful A capella versions of songs by various artists, including Sabrina Carpenter, Queen, Shania Twain, and songs from the musical Wicked.

In 2023, the girls made the leap to pursue music full-time after leaving their day jobs. Each member has experience in prestigious West End productions. Holly has performed in "Les Misérables" and "The Phantom of the Opera," Charlotte in "Mary Poppins," and Lauren in "Matilda," where she also took a lead role in the "SIX" tour.

The Connection with Sabrina Carpenter

Recently, Remember Monday disclosed that they had written a song titled "15 minutes" a while back. They playfully shared a clip on Instagram, where they performed an A capella version of their track shortly after Sabrina Carpenter released her own song of the same name.

In their Instagram post, they humorously remarked, "Actually wrote a song a while back called ‘15 minutes’ but Sabrina’s is better so ours is in the bin now xo." Carpenter's "15 minutes" is part of her 2024 album "Short n' Sweet (Deluxe)" and discusses the fleeting nature of fame.

Eurovision Entry: What The Hell Just Happened?

Remember Monday's Eurovision entry, titled "What The Hell Just Happened?", tells the story of a fun night out with friends. This upbeat track is filled with energy, excitement, and drama.

The song has been co-written by notable talents such as Billen Ted (Tom Hollings and Sam Brennan), Thomas Stengaard, and Julie 'Kill J' Aagaard. Billen Ted has previously collaborated with successful artists like Little Mix, Anne Marie, and MNEK. Thomas Stengaard is known for writing Denmark's 2013 Eurovision-winning entry "Only Teardrops," while Julie Aagaard is both a multi-platinum songwriter and a successful experimental pop artist.

"What The Hell Just Happened?" is being released through The Other Songs, an independent music and entertainment company.
