Nintendo Launches New Music Service Featuring Iconic Game Soundtracks

Published October 31, 2024

Nintendo, one of the world's most renowned video game publishers, is also celebrated for its remarkable musical achievements. With decades of unforgettable game music that has accompanied fans through countless hours of engaging with classic titles, Nintendo has now launched its very own music service.

This new service is called Nintendo Music, a straightforward name that reflects its clear purpose. The app allows users to stream a wealth of Nintendo game music or download tracks for offline listening. It features memorable pieces from beloved franchises, including Super Mario, The Legend of Zelda, Donkey Kong Country, Animal Crossing, Metroid, Fire Emblem, and many others, spanning from the 8-bit era of the NES to the current generation on the Nintendo Switch.

The collection even includes music from the Pokémon series, despite Nintendo not being the developer of those games.

Nintendo Music provides a user-friendly experience, allowing fans to search for music by specific games. Additionally, it offers unique playlists based on game characters and gameplay themes. Examples include playlists for boss battles, victory moments, and tracks associated with the beginning of new adventures in RPGs.

Another noteworthy feature is 'spoiler prevention', which lets users remove tracks from games they have yet to play. This helps maintain the element of surprise, ensuring that plot clues or titles do not reveal important information prematurely.

To access Nintendo Music, users must subscribe to Nintendo Switch Online, the company's online gaming service. However, there is no additional charge beyond the standard subscription fee. Users do not need a Nintendo Switch console to enjoy this service, as Nintendo Music is available through a dedicated app for both Android and iOS devices.

Following the recent unveiling of a new alarm clock that incorporates game music, it isn’t surprising to see Nintendo expanding its musical offerings into a comprehensive streaming service. What is exciting news for fans is that Nintendo Music is available right now.
