Former Premier of Bermuda, Dr. Ewart Brown, recently paid tribute to the renowned musician and producer, Quincy Jones, who has passed away. Dr. Brown fondly recalled how much Quincy loved Bermuda.

He shared, “Meeting Quincy Jones and spending time with him was amazing. During my time in Los Angeles, I encountered many people from the entertainment industry, and they all recognized his special status.”

“I wasn’t surprised when he instructed numerous superstar entertainers to put their egos aside. This was essential for him to lead them in producing the iconic charity song ‘We Are the World,’ which raised an impressive $68 million for Ethiopian famine victims,” he continued.

Dr. Brown emphasized Quincy’s affection for Bermuda, noting that he expressed his love for the island during his visit for the 2009 Bermuda Music Festival. “Bermuda and the world have lost an icon,” he remarked.
