The Weeknd's Possible Final Tour at U.S. Bank Stadium

Published February 1, 2025

Canadian pop sensation The Weeknd, known for his hit song "Blinding Lights," is scheduled to headline U.S. Bank Stadium on June 14. This performance could mark the end of his career under the Stage name The Weeknd.

Tickets for this highly anticipated concert will go on sale starting at 10 p.m. on February 7 through Ticketmaster. A presale will be available for fans who sign up at livemu.sc/theweeknd by 9 a.m. on February 4. The presale runs from 10 a.m. on February 5 to 9 a.m. on February 6. Alongside The Weeknd, artists Playboi Carti and Mike Dean will also perform.

Abel Tesfaye, the man behind The Weeknd, launched his music career in 2011 when he self-released a trilogy of mixtapes that ultimately led to a record deal with Republic Records. Over the years, he has produced an impressive collection of hits, including "Love Me Harder," "The Hills," "Can’t Feel My Face," "Starboy," "I Feel it Coming," "Die for You," "Pray for Me," "Call Out My Name," "Blinding Lights," "Save Your Tears," "One Right Now," "Creepin’," and "Timeless."

In early 2020, after releasing his fourth album "After Hours," The Weeknd planned an arena tour that included a show at St. Paul’s Xcel Energy Center. However, the tour faced numerous delays due to the pandemic and was eventually reimagined as an all-stadium tour in 2022, which did not include the Twin Cities.

During what was meant to be the final concert of that tour at California’s SoFi Stadium, he lost his voice during the first song. This led to the show being cut short, though he later performed two makeup shows, one of which was filmed for an HBO concert special.

The experience appears to have affected The Weeknd significantly, as he began expressing thoughts about retiring his stage name. In a unique interview with Variety earlier this year, he stated, "When is the right time to leave, if not at your peak? Once you understand who I am too much, then it’s time to pivot ... I don’t think I can stop making music, but everything needs to feel like a challenge. For me right now, the Weeknd, whatever that is, it’s been mastered. No one’s gonna do the Weeknd better than me, and I’m not gonna do it better than what it is right now."

Although he may step away from the name The Weeknd, The Weeknd is likely to pursue his long-standing interest in film. He co-created and appeared in the 2023 HBO drama "The Idol," which received a mixed reception and was canceled after just one season. However, he has a new feature film coming out on May 16, which is based on his recently released sixth album "Hurry Up Tomorrow."
