Macaulay Culkin’s Touching Reaction to Kieran Culkin's Oscar Win

Published March 3, 2025

Macaulay Culkin had a heartfelt response to his brother Kieran Culkin winning an Oscar in 2025. During the Vanity Fair Oscar party held on March 2, Macaulay, who is 44, and his fiancée Brenda Song, 36, shared their joy over Kieran's achievement in winning Best Actor in a Supporting Role for his role in A Real Pain.

When asked if he had watched the Oscars ceremony at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles, Macaulay jokingly remarked, "Just the Best Supporting Actor, that's the only thing I watched. True story, true story." He then expressed his emotional reaction to Kieran's victory, saying, "I cried. And I was like, 'I’m gonna see you later.'"

Macaulay humorously mentioned that he was unsure if he would meet Kieran at the after-party, humorously calling his brother a "busy man" and adding, "He’s Academy Award-winning actor Kieran Culkin."

Brenda also chimed in, showing their confidence in Kieran's win, saying, "Of course we expected Kieran to take home the trophy. Come on, let’s be real. We’re allowed to say that." Macaulay pointed out Kieran’s prime seating at the ceremony, noting, "He was front row, aisle, closest to the stairs. There was no way he was not going to win."

Kieran's Acceptance Speech

During his acceptance speech, Kieran dedicated a sweet moment to his wife, Jazz Charton, but surprisingly did not mention Macaulay. He shared a light-hearted story about his wife, recalling that a year ago, he expressed his desire for a third child if he won an Emmy, which he did for his role in Succession. Kieran playfully recounted how his wife agreed to the idea while holding the Emmy trophy, stating that she owed him a third child. He humorously added that Jazz had promised to give him four kids if he won an Oscar, to which she had shaken his hand in agreement.

Kieran concluded his speech with a loving shout-out to Jazz, saying, "You remember that, honey? Then I just have to say to you, Jazz, love of my life, ye of little faith, no pressure. I love you. I’m really sorry I did this again. And let’s get cracking on those kids, what do you say? I love you."
