Black Sabbath Announce ‘The Final Show’ in Birmingham with Metallica, Slayer, Pantera and More
Black Sabbath has announced their final live performance, which will occur in Birmingham, England, featuring an impressive lineup of supporting acts including Metallica, Slayer, Pantera, and others. The event, titled ‘Back To The Beginning’, is set for July 5, 2025, and will be held at Villa Park, which is located in their hometown.
The concert marks a significant reunion for the band's original members, Ozzy Osbourne, Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler, and Bill Ward, who will perform together for the first time in 20 years. The announcement was made on February 5 by Iommi and Sharon Osbourne, who is both the manager and wife of Ozzy Osbourne. “It’s my time to go Back To The Beginning… time for me to give back to the place where I was born,” said Ozzy. He expressed pride in holding the final show in Birmingham, stating, “Birmingham is the true home of metal. Birmingham Forever.”
Alongside Black Sabbath, several other heavy metal legends will take the stage. This includes iconic acts like Metallica, Slayer, and Anthrax, as well as renowned bands such as Pantera, Lamb Of God, Mastodon, Alice In Chains, Halestorm, and recent Grammy winners Gojira.
Tom Morello, the former guitarist of Rage Against The Machine, is set to appear at the event as the Music Director. He described the forthcoming concert as “the greatest heavy metal show ever.” The event will also feature notable appearances from various rock stars, including Billy Corgan from the Smashing Pumpkins, David Draiman from Disturbed, Duff McKagan from Guns N' Roses, Fred Durst from Limp Bizkit, and many more.
The lineup of performers continues with Lzzy Hale of Halestorm, Jonathan Davis of Korn, Wolfgang Van Halen, Zakk Wylde, and others such as Sammy Hagar, Rudy Sarzo, and many more contributors to the metal genre.
Tickets for this historic concert will go on sale starting Friday, February 14, at 10 am GMT. All profits from the ticket sales will be donated to charitable organizations, including Cure Parkinson’s, Birmingham Children’s Hospital, and Acorn Children’s Hospice, which is supported by Aston Villa.
Rumors of a possible reunion concert for Black Sabbath have circulated in recent years. In 2024, Ozzy Osbourne mentioned his eagerness to perform one last time with Bill Ward, the original drummer who had a fallout with the band over contract disputes. Looking back, many fans were reminded of the band's last tour, which concluded in 2017 in Birmingham. Ozzy expressed disappointment that Bill Ward was not part of that final performance.
As 2023 progressed, hopes for a comeback seemed uncertain, with Iommi expressing skepticism about the show's likelihood. Meanwhile, Ozzy shared concerns regarding his health, indicating that his ongoing struggle with Parkinson’s and recovery from surgeries might hinder any live performances in the future.
