Demi Moore Wins First Acting Award at Golden Globes 2025
Hollywood veteran Demi Moore is feeling overwhelmed after winning her first acting award at the Golden Globes 2025. This milestone victory comes for her role in Coralie Fargeat’s film ‘The Substance’.
The 62-year-old actress portrayed the character Elisabeth Sparkle in Fargeat’s body-horror film. She received the award for Best Actress in a Musical or Comedy Film during the 82nd Golden Globes ceremony, which kicked off the award season in Hollywood.
In a highly competitive category, Moore triumphed over talented actresses such as Amy Adams, Cynthia Erivo, Mikey Madison, Karla Sofia Gascon, and Zendaya to claim this honor. Her win marks the first acting award in a remarkable career that has spanned five decades.
During her acceptance speech, an emotional Moore stated, “I’m just in shock right now.” She expressed, “I’ve been doing this a long time, over 45 years. This is the first time I’ve ever won anything as an actor and I’m just so humbled and so grateful.”
Reflecting on her journey, Moore recalled a moment from years ago when a producer dismissed her as a ‘popcorn actress.’ She shared how those words made her feel unworthy of recognition, believing she could only succeed without being honored. “I bought in and I believed that; and that corroded me over time to the point where I thought a few years ago that maybe this was it, maybe I was complete, maybe I’ve done what I was supposed to do,” she explained.
Moore highlighted that this win came at a ‘low point’ in her life, conveying the message that the universe had more in store for her, asserting, “you’re not done.” In ‘The Substance’, she plays an aging TV fitness instructor who engages in an enigmatic medical program that promises to transform her into the ideal version of herself.
