Liam Payne's Solo & One Direction Spotify Streams Surge
Liam Payne's fans are expressing their grief through his music, resulting in a significant increase in streaming numbers for both his solo songs and tracks from One Direction on Spotify.
Before his tragic passing last week, Liam had around 4.7 million monthly listeners on the streaming platform. That figure has now nearly doubled to 8 million. His 2019 hit single "Strip That Down," featuring Quavo, has also gained more than 800,000 streams since the news of his death.
In addition, One Direction's streaming numbers are seeing a remarkable rise. The group had 42.4 million monthly listeners prior to the tragic event, but they are now approaching 50 million.
Furthermore, their three most popular songs—"Night Changes," "Story of My Life," and "What Makes You Beautiful"—have each accrued an additional 13 to 17 million streams.
In fact, the day after Liam's passing, One Direction experienced their biggest streaming day ever, with an astonishing 57.5 million streams, which is nearly five times more than the previous day.
These figures are quite remarkable, especially when considering that many of Liam's fans have admitted on social media platforms that they are too heartbroken to listen to his music right now.
As reported, Liam fell to his death from a third-floor balcony at a hotel in Buenos Aires, Argentina, last week. Toxicology reports have indicated that he had both cocaine and crack in his system.
