AFI Awards Luncheon Rescheduled for February 6

Published January 18, 2025

UPDATED, 5:41 p.m.: The Annual AFI Awards luncheon has been rescheduled for Thursday, February 6, as announced by AFI President and CEO Bob Gazzale. This change comes after the initial date of Friday, January 10, was postponed due to the ongoing L.A. wildfires, which are slowly nearing containment.

Gazzale expressed optimism about the new date, saying, "With the encouragement of the community, we will gather our honorees at the AFI AWARDS luncheon on Thursday, February 6. The spirit of this private event has always been one of camaraderie – not competition – and a moment to celebrate the power of art to heal, inspire, and unite. This city has been built by dreamers, and bringing today’s dreamers together as one will lead us to brighter days ahead."

PREVIOUSLY, JANUARY 8: The AFI Awards luncheon originally set for Friday at the Four Seasons Hotel in Beverly Hills has been postponed. A spokesperson stated, "Given the tragedies that prevail in Los Angeles, the spirit of community we strive for at AFI AWARDS will be unachievable on Friday – and so we will be postponing the event." No further details have been shared, adding to the list of awards season events affected by the wildfires. Other similar events, such as the American Cinematheque Tribute to the Crafts and the BAFTA Tea, are also likely to experience changes.
