Talented Santa Cruz vocalist Tammi Brown, known for her dynamic performances across jazz, rock, gospel, and soul, faced a daunting challenge when she was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer last fall. Initially fearing the worst after a grim prognosis that expected her to survive only a few days, Brown pursued chemotherapy and, remarkably, has seen significant improvement. She's even returned to her passion, singing, including a spot with Bobby McFerrin's Motion, an improvisational a cappella group.

The Bay Area music community was quick to step in and support one of their own. A GoFundMe campaign started by McFerrin's team to help with Brown's medical and living expenses has been a clear demonstration of her impact, raising around $71,000 of a $90,000 goal.
