Harnessing Music to Combat Military Suicides

Every year, suicide takes the lives of numerous service members and veterans, posing an ongoing and significant challenge. Despite the enormity of this issue, a dedicated team from the 90th Missile Wing sought to make an impact through the power of music.

Inspiring Hope Through Song

To offer a beacon of hope to those contemplating suicide, Senior Airman Ronald Merritt and 'Ty' Warner created 'No one Answers.' This poignant song serves as a reminder for those dealing with depression that they are not alone and that help is within reach. The team debuted their musical message during a chapel luncheon at the F.E. Warren Air Force Base in Wyoming on September 13, 2023.

A Call to Resilience

The track features a dramatic interplay of emotions where a character, voiced by Staff Sgt. Sharon Zayzay, confronts loneliness and despair. As the song progresses, it shifts to a more hopeful tone, illustrating the retreat of darkness and the possibility of recovery. Warner's spoken word reassures listeners that support is always available, reinforcing the theme that music can connect and heal when words fall short.

Merritt's personal encounter with a friend who came close to suicide galvanized him to co-create 'No one Answers.' He emphasizes the song's potential to resonate with those who feel isolated, sharing his aspiration to create an anthem of resilience for those in need.
