Taylor Swift Tops the Charts as 2023's Most Streamed Artist on Spotify

Published November 29, 2023

As 2023 draws to a close, the spotlight shines on Taylor Swift, who emerges as the world's most listened to artist on Spotify, the leading audio streaming platform globally. Meanwhile, Miley Cyrus's anthem of self-reaffirmation 'Flowers' becomes the most streamed song of the year.

Swift's Streaming Supremacy

According to the recent figures released by Spotify, the American singer-songwriter Taylor Swift has accumulated an impressive 26 billion streams. With this milestone, Swift dethrones the Puerto Rican sensation Bad Bunny, who had maintained the top position for the past three years.

Swift's success is not confined to Spotify alone. In 2023, she was also named 'Artist of the Year' by another major audio platform, Apple Music. A testament to her popularity is the fact that 65 of her tracks made it into the global 'Top 100' chart, surpassing any other music artist.

Top Ranking Artists and Tracks on Spotify

The top ranks of Spotify's yearly review feature Canadian artists The Weeknd and Drake in the third and fourth spots, respectively. Interestingly, Mexican artist Peso Pluma's significant contribution to the rise of regional music in Mexico has earned him the fifth position.

In addition, 'Ella Baila Sola,' a collaboration between Peso Pluma and fellow Mexican band Eslabón Armado, secures its place as the fifth most streamed song internationally.

Topping the list of songs is Miley Cyrus's 'Flowers,' gathering 1.6 billion streams since its release in January. Following close behind are 'Kill Bill' by SZA, 'As It Was' by Harry Styles, and 'Seven' by the South Korean singer Jung Kook, formerly of BTS.

Women Artists Making Waves on Spotify

Taylor Swift's dominance is clear, but other female artists are not far behind. In third place is Colombian star Karol G, flanked by SZA in second and Lana del Rey in fourth. Rihanna also makes a notable return to the rankings in the year of her comeback performance at the Superbowl.
