Published February 27, 2024

T.S.O.L., an influential punk band from Huntington Beach/Long Beach, recently released 'A-Side Graffiti,' a unique record featuring a mix of unexpected covers and original songs. Known for his four-decade tenure in the punk scene, frontman Jack Grisham discussed the album's creation, where the band recorded songs as if they were intended only for their own enjoyment, resulting in a product that unexpectedly resonated with fans. Grisham, amused by the positive response, feels it's a testament to the unpredictability of music reception.

Eclectic Covers and Originals on 'A-Side Graffiti'

The album, which was released on February 27, showcases T.S.O.L.'s versatility with tracks ranging from 'Sweet Transvestite' from 'The Rocky Horror Picture Show,' featuring Keith Morris as Brad Majors, to a unique take on Amerie's R&B hit '1 Thing.' Grisham, a fan of varied music genres including R&B and the work of David Bowie, infuses his personal music interests into the band's latest work. His Bowie cover, 'Can You Hear Me?' and a reimagined Louis Armstrong's 'What a Wonderful World' both illustrate his willingness to push boundaries and reinterpret classics through a punk lens.

Upcoming Festival Appearances

While T.S.O.L. has scaled back on touring, they are scheduled to perform at two prominent festivals: San Francisco's Punk in the Park in May and the No Values Festival in Pomona in June. Grisham, hinting at the band's sporadic live shows and reluctance to commit to extensive tours, jokes about their numerous 'comebacks' and expresses appreciation for the continued support from fans of all ages who attend their performances.
